It’s been a wild year

Yes, it’s been a wild year. Full of exciting moments, uncertainties, growth.

I was launched full speed into January with a crazy busy schedule creating luxury wedding invitations. I have another website for that little business of mine at www.sofiainvitations.com and I invite you to take a look.

Then that all settled down and I landed a really fun chalk mural job at Aloft Hotel in downtown Greenville around valentines day. Sooooo fun, I forgot how much I loved to work large.

That mural job was the beginning of me getting back into painting, and painting LARGE. I love small painting with gouache and digital, but you can’t beat the fulfilling feeling of painting large.

I had a moment. A big moment of realization. I LOVE to paint. And then I saw the connections. In my work. The vines, the movement, the symbolism. It’s all been there for years.

So this became the beginning of a large scale fine art series focusing on spiritual symbolism. I plan to create at lease 7 paintings of this scale (about 6 feet by 3.5 feet). I will be taking some of these and converting them into images for an Oracle card deck, and the rest I will create digitally. I am very excited about this and have been slaving away happily my free time painting painting painting.

Then finally June comes around……and my coloring books launch. I was sooooo nervous. Because I worked so hard to these…..the entire process was almost 2 years (I know I can make them faster now). And guess what? They are doing AMAZING! Crushing sales targets left and right across every book market…..big box stores like Target and Dick Blick, small independent book stores, Amazon, internationally…….Yay!

So what is next? I will continue to paint and I am beginning to sketch out my next coloring book. Also hoping to land more commissions, murals, and I would absolutely love a great match for an Art Agent.
